Medical Assistant
New York Dermatology Group seeks bright, dedicated medical assistants (MAs). MAs work alongside our physicians and are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties.
Administrative Duties [may include but are not limited to]:
- Greeting patients
- Answering telephones
- Scheduling appointments
- Using computer applications
- Arranging for laboratory services
- Updating our patients’ medical records via EMR software
Clinical Duties [may include but are not limited to]:
- Taking medical histories and vitals
- Explaining treatments/procedures
- Preparing patients for examination
- Assisting the physician during exams
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Instructing patients about medication and/or special diets
- Preparing and administering medications as directed by MDs
- Authorizing prescription refills as directed
- Drawing blood (in-office training available)
- Moving heavy equipment up to 50 pounds
- Removing sutures and changing dressings
- Learning the utilization and troubleshooting of various equipment (laser, radiofrequency, EMS)
Qualifications: This opportunity requires a very well-organized and responsible individual with excellent communication skills. Professional demeanor and high level of discretion are required. This is an ideal role for pre-medical, nursing or health students taking time off between undergraduate and medical/graduate school; we highly suggest that prospective Medical Assistants have demonstrated experience in medicine.
