Laser Technology

The word laser is an acronym, referring to "light amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation." The technology comes with a pedigree: laser was first invented by Albert Einstein, in 1917, though it was not until 1964 that American and Russian scientists shared the Nobel Prize for Physics for their research in the practical application of laser light.  Simply stated, lasers work by producing an intense beam of very bright, highly directional light.

Mr. Einstein’s idea was to produce one specific color (wavelength) of light that could be varied in its intensity and pulse duration. Some ninety years of development later, this translates to laser systems of incredibly impressive precision and selectivity, hence the myriad of lasers with their unique purposes, and the wonderful opportunity to take advantage of this brilliant technology for medical and cosmetic dermatology.  Today’s advanced laser systems can correct lines, wrinkles, age spots and other effects of aging and photoaging; can erase spider veins, birthmarks, stretch marks; can remove unwanted hair; reduce pigmented or vascular lesions; seal blood vessels; perform surgery on cancerous tissue.

For overall skin improvement on the face, hands and décolleté, one of our favorite, and most popular, laser applications is Laser Toning, which is also part of our Triad Medical Facial and our Pedicure Triad. Since laser needs and applications are so patient specific, it’s best to consult the dermatologist to ask what modern lasers can do for you.
